Everything people ask before they hire us

Working with us

Do you take cases outside the four kinds listed?

Not usually. If your trouble is something else, we say so on the first call and point you toward who may help.

Is the first read really part of the price?

If you hire us, yes. If you only send the paper and decide not to, we write back with what we saw, and that costs nothing.

Can a company find out I called a lawyer?

Not from us. We don’t contact anyone until you tell us to, and we keep what you send to ourselves.

What if I’m not in Overland Park?

We work with people across the state by video. The only thing that changes is how far a court is, and we tell you if that affects the price.

The case

Will I have to go to court?

Many matters end with a letter. If a lawsuit is already filed, we tell you whether a hearing is likely and what that adds.

How long does it take?

It depends on the other side. We give you a rough schedule when you sign and update it as replies arrive.

What if the company offers me money?

We tell you what the offer is worth and what you’d give up by taking it. The decision is yours.

What should I keep?

Every letter, envelope, text, email and call record. Don’t throw anything away, even if it seems minor.

Paper and privacy

How do I send things safely?

Use the secure link we email you after you hire us. For the first look, leave off account and Social Security numbers.

Is what I tell you private?

Once we agree to work together, yes. Before that, please keep the first message short and without confidential details.

Still unsure? Send the paper.

We’ll tell you what it is, whether it’s ours to take and what it would cost.
